Peter Bosek (55) will become CEO of Erste Group as of July 1, 2024. He succeeds Willi Cernko, who will continue to lead the company as CEO until then. Austrian Bosek currently heads Luminor Bank, which is active in the Baltic states. Previously he was CEO of Erste Bank and Chief Retail Officer of Erste Group, so he knows the company very well.
The bank said Bosek emerged as the best qualified candidate from a multi-stage international process.
“One of the most experienced and renowned bankers in Europe”
The chairman of the supervisory board of the Erste Group, Friedrich Rödler, praised Bosek in a broadcast on Wednesday evening as “one of the most experienced and renowned bankers in Europe”. He managed to convince the supervisory board with his plans for the further development of the group and future prospects.
“As an experienced retail banker, in his role as CEO of the group, he will focus strongly on all customer issues and work on the group’s leadership in digitalization and innovation,” said Rödler.
