A 17-year-old woman from Styria was hit by an alcoholic while crossing a street in Pöllau on Friday evening. The girl was flown to LKH Graz with serious injuries.
The driver from the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district drove his small truck on the L406 from Pöllau towards Prätis shortly after 6:30 p.m. The 17-year-old wanted to cross the street at a bar where a Perchtenlauf was taking place. She was hit head-on by the van and lay seriously injured along the road about 40 meters away.
Steer kept driving
As it turned out, the 31-year-old driver was drunk. He initially drove on without stopping, but then returned to the scene of the accident with his partner. Witnesses had now called the emergency services and provided first aid. The 17-year-old was flown to LKH Graz by rescue helicopter.
