Vampires in disguise set a new world record

Date:

125 years after the publication of the horror novel “Dracula”, 1,369 fans dressed as vampires came to the ruins of Withby Abbey in England. They broke the previous 2011 Guinness World Record of just over 1,000 disguised vampires in the US state of Virginia.

Bram Stroker invented just one count in vampire form for his famous novel “Dracula”. 125 years later, more than 1,300 “human leeches” gathered.

Fans dressed as vampires met in Yorkshire, England, in front of the ruins of Withby Abbey. Their goal: to break the previous 2011 Guinness World Record. The method: gather in the same spot for at least five minutes to count.

Black clothing and pointy canines required
In order for participants to count as vampires, they had to wear black shoes, pants or dresses and a black cape. In addition, pointed canines in the upper jaw were needed.

The meeting point, the 11th-century former monastery, is said to have inspired Strokers’ story. He is said to have come across the name Dracula in a book about a 15th-century prince who impaled his enemies.
