Slippery road conditions in Carinthia resulted in a fatal accident on Thursday morning. A 67-year-old woman was hit by a car and killed.
An 18-year-old driver from the Völkermarkt district near Gallizien skidded on the icy road of Rosental-Bundesstraße. “She lost control of her car and left the road,” police said. “Near a bus stop she hit a 67-year-old from the Völkermarkt district who was standing there.” The woman suffered fatal injuries in the accident.
There are also many other injuries due to the icy situation – there are reports of real traffic jams in front of hospitals. “We are seeing a significant increase in the number of trauma surgical patients. Ambulances are constantly arriving at the Klagenfurt clinic,” confirms Nathalie Trost from Kabeg. “But the situation is not a problem for us.”
