Causa Community Center – Surprising: Lech Municipality Announces Head of Construction Authority

The municipality of Lech has fired the head of construction management. According to ORF Vorarlberg, he would have received a letter Friday morning saying that he would lose his job at the end of September – apparently Mayor Gerhard Lucian did not think it necessary to personally inform the old employee of the termination. In any case, technical reasons or lack of enthusiasm for the work should not have played a role in this rather drastic step – according to information from the “Krone”, the head of the construction authority was considered determined and energetic.

Stefan Muxel of the opposition list “Ons Dorp” suspects that the man was relieved of his position for completely different reasons: It was known that the head of the construction department had a very critical attitude towards the new community center, and he spoke also openly opposes “Illwerke VKW” participation in the local small power plant, Muxel told ORF.

Addition: “But of course that’s just speculation in the end.” Mayor Lucian is certainly not helping to end the coffee mess reading: he does not want to comment publicly on the matter, it is a purely internal matter.

So the discussions on the Arlberg shouldn’t be quiet any time soon. The new community center has not only created a visual wedge in the cityscape, but has also divided the village community into two camps. The project’s opponents have no shortage of “ammunition”: there is still no coherent concept of use and the costs threaten to exceed the original budget.
