The frustration after a visit to the betting office was apparently great: so great that a 33-year-old resident gave free rein to his aggression in Innsbruck on Saturday evening. After the suspect destroyed traffic lights, he was temporarily arrested by the police.
Around 6 p.m., passers-by saw an initially unknown vandal wildly hitting two traffic lights on Schützenstrasse in Innsbruck. The witnesses then immediately alerted the police. A patrol was able to quickly track down the suspect during a manhunt and temporarily arrest him.
Lost money bets
The suspected perpetrator was a 33-year-old Austrian. “He stated that he committed the property damage out of frustration over a loss at a betting shop,” investigators said.
Broadly reported
The extent of the material damage caused cannot yet be quantified. After interrogation it turned out that the suspect was at large.
