The Eulen workers who clean the buildings and grounds of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council will start an indefinite strike next Monday to “guarantee the rise of the CPI” in the agreement they are negotiating.
The outsourced cleaning employees have so far 19 days strike to “guarantee no loss of purchasing power in the collective agreement”.
The trade unions ELA, LAB and ESK have denounced that Eulen is proposing after a year of negotiations pay freeze for 2021 an increase of 1.5% for 2022 and 1.75% for 2023. As they have warned, “not only does he want to make wage proposals without linking to the CPI, but also freeze wages for 2021, the year of the pandemic, where cleaning is more fundamental and essential than ever.
The workers’ representatives have criticized that these workers are “essential to establish the minimum services” “for the public administration and for the private enterprise”.
