Next climate protest – Viennese woke up loudly with a “fire alarm”.

Date:

During the current wave of climate protests across Vienna, activists from the Last Generation came up with a new atypical protest action. On Tuesday they marched through the streets at 4:30 am sharp, waking residents from their sleep with their ‘fire alarm’.

With loud singing and a lot of noise, climate activists throughout Hietzing drew attention to the climate crisis. “We are the fire alarm of a sleeping and oppressive society,” the Last Generation declared on social media.

“Planet is the burning house”
“If the house is on fire and people are sleeping, the fire alarm will save their lives. In this metaphor, our planet is the burning house while humanity sleeps soundly. We are the fire alarm – a not always welcome but indispensable warning,” says press spokeswoman Anna Freund (23).

Impact of the climate crisis
With this protest, the climate activists want to draw attention to the enormous consequences of the climate crisis around the world. “In addition to floods, there were also huge forest fires and drought. There were crop failures and rising food prices,” a climate activist explains in a Last Generation broadcast.

Disruptive actions without glue
The climate activists began their next wave of protests across Vienna on Monday. They blocked the entrance to a supermarket and defaced it with orange paint. In addition to the street plastering activities, other disruptive actions are also planned this time.
