Desert scenes in Paris – 170 climate activists arrested during protests

Date:

Paris police said they arrested at least 170 of hundreds of climate activists who gathered outside the headquarters of Amundi, one of the world’s largest asset managers and a major shareholder of TotalEnergies, on Friday.

Before the opening of the general meeting, wild scenes occurred: Greenpeace members rolled out a ‘Wanted’ poster describing TotalEnergies boss Patrick Pouyanné as the ‘leader of the French environmentally damaging company’ and sprayed graffiti. Windows were smashed and the entrance area smeared.

As local media report, the majority of activists belong to the Extinction Rebellion group, some of whom were taken away by police. According to the executive, eight employees of the company’s security service were injured and significant property damage was caused.
