A football match in Vienna-Margareten ended with a dramatic twist on Sunday. A 38-year-old man allegedly threatened a 26-year-old with a knife because he felt he was too loud during the match. The older man was temporarily arrested.
The incident took place on Sunday afternoon in Hermitage Park, when a football match was taking place in the cage there. Witnesses reported that the 38-year-old became increasingly upset with the younger man’s loudness and behavior. Eventually things escalated: the man pulled out a vegetable knife and threatened his 26-year-old opponent.
The alerted police officers quickly arrived on the scene and arrested the Kosovo resident. The knife, which the perpetrator had hidden in nearby bushes, was immediately confiscated.
Attacker violated the weapons ban
The 38-year-old partially confessed to the officers and is said to be free. There was already a weapons ban against the man.
