Construction site overview – Why the tunnels on the A10 now have ‘ears’.

A look from the “Krone” behind the scenes of the tunnel shows that the renovated tubes along the A10 in Salzburg are packed with the latest technology. In total, 265 million euros will flow into the tunnel construction sites. Five tunnels will be renovated for ten months. Half is done and from Friday 5:00 the construction site will be shut down and the tunnels will be accessible on both sides.

30 percent less energy consumption
Asfinag civil engineer Hanspeter Treichl manages the construction site and has been working on it for five years: According to him, a general renovation is needed every 35 years. Only 80 million euros goes to operational and safety technology alone.
