The weekly party in the “Almstadl” at 1,650 meters above sea level in Wagrain ended dramatically for five guests on Saturday. The police have started an investigation into the cause of the accident.
Five Germans between 22 and 36 years old from the Baden-Württemberg region were with about 200 other partygoers on Saturday at the so-called “Almrausch Party”. The event takes place weekly in the “Almstadl” in Wagrain at an altitude of 1,650 meters above sea level.
Suddenly a fence post broke away
They were leaning against a wooden fence in a clearing near a swimming pond below the hut. Suddenly, the upper fence beam broke, probably from the weight of the Germans. All five fell down the steep slope below and came to a stop after about ten meters.
A 33-year-old was rescued from the impassable terrain by the rescue helicopter using a rope rescue and flown to the Schwarzach Clinic. A 28-year-old and a 29-year-old were able to get back to the hut on their own. They drove to the Schwarzach Clinic with the rescue operation. An investigation has been launched to find out exactly what happened with the accident.
