As an American Airlines plane took off, another serious incident occurred with a Boeing plane in the US state of Florida: shortly before take-off, the tire burst. The take-off had to be aborted.
This latest in a string of failures is unlikely to boost confidence in the planemaker: The 737-800 plane was about to take off from Tampa International Airport on Wednesday when its tire shredded, sending flames and debris onto the runway in a video posted to YouTube.

The machine had already accelerated to 180 km/h
The plane was said to have accelerated to around 180 kilometres per hour when the tyre burst, Flightradar24 reported. The take-off was of course immediately cancelled and fire engines rushed to the runway. There were 174 passengers and six crew members on board at the time of the incident and no one was injured. American Airlines stated: “American Airlines Flight 590 from Tampa (TPA) to Phoenix (PHX) experienced a mechanical issue on the runway prior to takeoff. Passengers were able to safely evacuate the aircraft and were bused to the terminal. We do not want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
