Strange reason: Train station toilets now have opening hours

Date:

Excitement at Vienna’s Ottakring and Hernals train stations. This is how the Federal Railways are responding to returning dirty finches.

The train stations in Ottakring and Hernals have certainly seen a lot in their history. What has happened here in the past few weeks is truly a tragedy.

Bubble is not based on opening hours
Background story: The “Krone” has been experiencing increasing symptoms for a few days. A caller: “The toilets in the train stations were closed and are now open. But my son’s bladder is not dependent on the opening hours of the ÖBB.”

Dirty finches come after lunch
We asked the Federal Railways. What is behind these measures? The ÖBB confirms: “The toilet facilities at the train stations are closed every day from 2:15 p.m. due to deliberate soiling and various incidents of vandalism, especially in the afternoon. We were therefore forced to close the sanitary facilities earlier.” Why such unsavory incidents continued to occur after lunch is currently still under investigation. Are they commuters after work or perhaps late risers?

Close contact with the police
There are currently no clues about the perpetrators or the background. “We are in close contact with the police,” the spokeswoman said. The Federal Railways asks for the understanding of the passengers: “We regret the inconvenience and advise passengers to use the toilets in the trains.”
