The union celebrates its conclave in Biarritz and Baiona, where bicephaly will become a reality, with Garbiñe Aranburu and Igor Arroyo. Aranburu has indicated that this will reflect the change initiated in the union, “more participative, more horizontal, along with the commitment to feminist transformation”.
The Union LAB has started the congress that will change the structure for the first time from the management of the union headquarters, which will go from a general secretary to two general coordinators: Garbine Aranburu and Igor Arroyo.
As said this morning in Radio Euskadic, minutes before the conclave begins, the still general secretary, Garbiñe Aranburu, the decision of a two-headed management has been taken with the intention “to reflect the change of the union, towards a more participatory model, which takes into account the opinion of the people, of the community, articulated rather than vertically, more horizontally, with a more collegial leadership model, coupled with the commitment to feminist transformation, inside and outside the union”. The bicephalic model responds to these decisions, as he explained.
Regarding participation in the social dialogue table, Aranburu has reaffirmed that they will not participate in said forum, “it is about bringing the class struggle to the co-determination bodies. Our commitment is to clarify the harmony between the employers and the government making in public policy”. “It is clear that strength lies mainly in the ability to reorganize and fight, both in the workplace and on the street,” he added.
LAB keeps being X Congress between today and tomorrow in Biarritz and Baiona with the aim of renewing the “agreements for the development of independent trade union work for all workers in Euskal Herria”.
