Even a small inattention can have fatal consequences. While a 55-year-old man from Villach was riding his e-bike in Villach on Saturday evening, he came off the road.
The man was riding his e-bike on Strimitzer Strasse in Villach towards Wernberger Strasse at around 6:50 p.m. “Shortly after the start of a sloping section of road, he ended up on the right side of the dike and fell onto the road,” the police said.
Shortly afterwards, a 73-year-old cyclist arrived at the scene of the accident and saw the man. “He immediately started the rescue chain and provided first aid,” the police explained. However, resuscitation on the spot was to no avail. “The emergency doctor could only determine that the cyclist involved in the accident had died from his serious injuries,” the police said.
The 55-year-old was not wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the accident. “The back of his head hit the asphalt, resulting in serious injuries,” police explained when asked.
