Accident on the B4 near Seitzersdorf-Wolfpassing in the Korneuburg district (Lower Austria): A pickup truck and a van collided head-on. One person was trapped in the wreck and was seriously injured, others were injured.
At around 8:00 a.m., the Florianis from the fire departments of Seitzersdorf-Wolfpassing, Niederrussbach, Zissersdorf and Stockerau were called to rescue people on the federal road 4 near the Seitzersdorf Wolfpassing bypass. A car driven by three Czech men (25, 32, 44) entered the oncoming lane in a slight left bend and collided head-on with an oncoming pick-up truck driven by a 45-year-old man from the Mistelbach district.
Crash caused several injuries
The car ended up on its side and a person (32) was trapped in the accident car and suffered serious injuries. The accident victim was flown to the University Hospital St. Pölten by rescue helicopter, the police reported.
Both the driver of the pick-up truck and the 44-year-old driver and his passenger (25) were also slightly injured in the crash and were taken to the Tulln and Korneuburg hospitals by the emergency services.
The B4 was closed for almost four hours while rescue, recovery and clean-up operations took place. A local diversion has been put in place.
