It is thanks to good research and a bit of coincidence that the Viennese police have discovered two huge stockpiles of narcotics.
Detectives from the Vienna State Criminal Investigation Department, South Division, had been keeping an eye on a 45-year-old Slovenian for some time. Officers suspected that the suspect might be dealing in drugs. On August 21, their suspicions turned out to be correct. When he handed drugs to two Serbians (38 and 52 years old) at the Wiedner Belt, the trio was handcuffed.
Bunker discovered
While the Slovenian had only 30 grams of cocaine on him, the police found 7.2 kilos of cocaine and 69.2 kilos of marijuana, as well as 1,020 euros in cash in several apartments that were apparently used as bunkers for street sales. The investigation into the three suspected drug dealers is still ongoing.
On Tuesday night, Inspector Random led another police operation. Due to the noise, officers were called to a courtyard in Favoriten Leibnizgasse. At the scene, two Algerians (aged 27 and 30) were packing cannabis wrapped in aluminum foil from a concrete tub into a backpack. Both were arrested and reported; the 27-year-old is in the country illegally and was taken into custody pending deportation.
