Coke and cannabis – family drug trial in Graz: verdicts handed down

Date:

An Iraqi clan was in the dock in Graz this week for drug trafficking. Five guilty verdicts were pronounced on Friday. The eldest son risks fifteen years in prison.

As reported, a family of Iraqi descent had to answer to the Regional Criminal Court in Graz this week for the import and sale of more than 20 kilos of cocaine, 250 kilos of cannabis and one kilo of flex cocaine (“zombi drug”).

Drugs stashed in someone else’s house
The 36-year-old main defendant, together with his brother (33), allegedly ordered the drugs in Montenegro and then sold them. The suspects were able to prove that they were dealing in narcotics via the chat history that ran via crypto messenger services.

The drugs were stored in a chimney shaft of a house the suspect had nothing to do with, in underground parking garages or vacant apartments. The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to most charges, but tried to clear the youngest brother and his wife.

Yesterday the verdicts were announced: the eldest son was sentenced to fifteen years in prison, the middle son to seven years. The father, mother and youngest son received combined fines and suspended prison sentences, and the daughter-in-law was acquitted. The verdicts are not legally binding.
