The series does not stop: there was another bank robbery in Tyrol. According to the first information from the police, a bank in the Mitterweg district of Innsbruck was robbed on Tuesday around 09:30.
An alarm search has been launched throughout the city and beyond, the director said. The police helicopter is also circling above the city. Further details about the perpetrator and the course of the crime are not yet known.
Police and forensic investigators are at the scene of the crime. The location of the attack was the Sparkasse branch on Mitterweg in Innsbruck.
A whole series of bank robberies in Tyrol
In recent months, there have been several bank robberies in Tyrol, followed by arrests. Exactly one week ago, on August 27, an initially unknown perpetrator attacked the Raiffeisen branch in Mieders in the Stubai Valley. The next day, handcuffs were clicked on a Slovakian suspect (42). At the end of July, a Sparkasse branch in Reichenau, Innsbruck, was attacked. Four weeks later, the police were able to track down and arrest a suspect (68). Curiously, the ‘robber grandpa’ fled on an e-scooter.
A BTV branch on Mitterweg in Innsbruck has already been targeted twice this year. After the second attack in early July, two suspects – a 24-year-old Austrian and a 32-year-old Russian – were arrested. She was remanded in custody. There were also attacks in Innsbruck’s O-Dorf and in Kufstein in the Tyrolean lowlands.
