Fear of attacks – This is how super-rich megayachts equip themselves against drones

Date:

Drone attacks are becoming an increasing problem in shipping – not only on military ships in war zones, but also on cargo ships on trade routes in the Red Sea. But even people who sail for their private pleasure are afraid – and that’s why the super-rich are equipping their megayachts with countermeasures.

Until now, drones have mainly been a nuisance to billionaires on their superyachts: paparazzi have relied on the flying cameras for years to scout the VIPs’ floating hideouts from the air and take potentially lucrative photos of their glamorous daily lives. But the security situation on the world’s oceans has changed. In war zones such as the Black Sea off the Ukrainian coast and in the Red Sea, where Yemen’s Houthi rebels terrorize ships, deadly drone contacts should now be expected. Krone+ reveals how the owners of their luxury yachts, which cost hundreds of millions of euros, are preparing for attacks.
