Eight days before Christmas, the Dornbirn Admira clubhouse burned down completely. After the initial shock, the club has recovered and is optimistic about the future.
Already on New Year’s Eve, the sports fields in Rohrbach are once again the focus of the club’s activities. After the traditional New Year’s Eve ceremony in the hall, the entourage moves to Rohrbach for the New Year’s Eve party, which this time takes place outside. “Many of our club members wanted to maintain this tradition and became involved so that we could hold the New Year’s Eve party despite the burned down clubhouse,” says chairman Gerhard Ritter. “It lasts until about 6 p.m., after which the club members go about their business in their own way.”
The motto for reconstruction is also common. This applies far beyond the club boundaries. Charity games for the Lustenauer Austria and Dornbirn Bulldogs were organized in support of the hard-hit club. At the Wolfurt Hallenmasters, part of the lottery proceeds is intended for Admira. The Dornbirner Sparkasse has announced support for replacing the clothing sets. And FC Andelsbuch makes the artificial grass available for a weekend during the winter preparations.
Reconstruction plan
Plans are also already being made within the club about which reconstruction work can be carried out independently. The reopening is scheduled for the spring of 2026. But: “The time of the temporary arrangement will be a challenge,” says Ritter, “but together we can do it.”
During the transition period, changing rooms and showers will be housed in six containers. During this time, outdoor dining will be very weather dependent.
