A forest walk has taken a particularly tragic end for a man in Slovakia. Because of his serious injuries, it is believed to be the victim of a brown bear.

In short, Bears in Slovakia are protected all year round and can only be shot in exceptional cases if they are at risk. As a rule, the predators avoid people when they notice them on time.

But sometimes it changes. There was a lot of horror when a dead man was found in a forest area called Zaprangody outside the central Slovak community of Detva, the state of nature preservation said that the Tasr press agency.

Rescue workers and local residents desperately searched for the missing person and eventually found him lifeless in a difficult access to Underwood area in about a kilometer from the inhabited area. The authorities ordered a control over the area around the scope of the accident by a special team and surveillance cameras. The population was warned to show greater caution.

Controversial Berschoten
According to the official count there are around 1200 freely living bears in Slovakia. Individual collisions have finished fatally in recent years. In the pressure of hunters and local politicians, the government in Bratislava decided last year to release a maximum of one hundred so -bred problem bears to shoot. This decision is politically very controversial.
