Two men had a guardian angel on board when they set out in their motorboat.
Two men from the US state of Massachusetts had lost control of their eight-meter motorboat. They had fallen from the deck into the sea during an excursion without life jackets while their boat was spinning in circles at high speed, creating a whirlpool.
Escape from “Circle of Death”.
The Coast Guard released a video of the dramatic incident. According to boating experts, fatal accidents occur most often in “circle of death” cases, because the boat’s occupants thrown into the water are struck by the outside of their boat or by the propeller of the engines.
Fortunately for the Marshfield men, they escaped from their boat and were picked up by a fishing boat, which happened to pass by and witnessed the accident. It took the Coast Guard 90 minutes to stop the “runaway” motorboat and even closed the nearby beaches as a precaution.
Marshfield Police Commissioner Phillip Tavarez told the New York Post: “It should remind all boat owners how quickly accidents can happen on water. In this case, the two occupants were incredibly lucky to survive.”
