At least 70 people died of Cholera in Sudan’s capital Khartum within two days. The Ministry of Health in the Northeast African country announced on Thursday.
More than 2,000 new cases of infection were also registered on the two previous days. The cholera spreads in the suffering country in the middle of a civil war that has been going on for years, according to UN, people in Sudan are currently suffering from the “worst humanitarian crisis in the world”.
Infection can lead to death within a few hours
Cholera is a serious gastrointestinal disease that is transmitted by water or food infected with cholera. The infection goes hand in hand with severe diarrhea, vomiting and muscle cramps and can lead to death within a few hours. Affected people in Sudan often have no access to medical care and medication. Even clean water does not exist in many places.

The army of military ruler Fattah al-Curhan and the RSF militia of his former deputy Mohammed Hamdan Daglo have been in Sudan for more than two years. According to the UN, tens of thousands of people have already been killed in the conflict, 13 million people are fleeing.
