Police shot and killed a man at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris on Wednesday who threatened bystanders with a knife. According to French media reports, the man behaved aggressively in a public area of Terminal 2F in the morning, brandishing his knife. After repeated calls to stop his behavior, he was shot dead by security forces.
At about 8.20 am, according to reports, the man first showed threatening behavior. When the police asked about it, he initially left the scene under threats and curses. Shortly after, he returned and brandished his knife.
Police fired a single shot
When he purposely marched towards the police officers, they took up arms. According to a photographer from the AFP news agency, who became an eyewitness, only one shot was fired, hitting the attacker in the abdomen. He died on the spot.
The background of the incident is not yet known. The photographer described the dead man as “a tall, dark-skinned man.”
