A tragic plane crash occurred on Friday afternoon in Böttingen (Baden-Württemberg), about 40 kilometers northwest of Lake Constance. A two-seater glider and a tow plane had collided in mid-air.
Around 2 p.m. Friday, two planes collided near Klippeneck airport (Tuttlingen district). According to the first findings of the German police, a motorized tug and a glider had collided in mid-air and then crashed.
Pilot could save himself
The pilot of the tow plane was able to save himself with a parachute and was only slightly injured, according to the initial information. The glider crew, a flight instructor and his student, could only be found dead. It is still unclear how the fatal collision between the two aircraft came about and is now being determined.
