Blue-black plans – These green prestige projects are about to end

Date:

Will we soon be traveling by public transport without a climate ticket, but at 150 km/h on selected parts of the highway? As is known, the FPÖ and ÖVP still lack details about their austerity plans. However, climate protection experts already have very concrete concerns about where the red pencil could be applied.

Time is money. This also applies, or even more so, in politics. In just one year, the FPÖ and ÖVP want and need to save 6.4 billion euros – as reported. Even if the two upcoming coalition partners first want to present details of their budget plans, it already seems clear that Blauw-Zwart will mainly focus on the climate. The Abolition of the climate bonus needs to be resolved, the final end for this Target of 2.5 hectares of land use are now sealed for the Austrian communities.

Greenpeace signals “overexploitation”
Alarm bells are already ringing at environmental organizations such as Greenpeace. “An FPÖ-ÖVP coalition is by far the worst option for the environment. The overexploitation of nature will continue. Both parties also reject the recovery plans for nature,” Greenpeace boss Alexander Egit told “Krone”.

Long cross list
Based on statements from the industrial association, environmentalists now even fear it Cancellation of the climate ticket. In any case, the financial cuts associated with the green prestige project seem to have been fixed.

Also Financing for the replacement of oil and gas heating systems can be saved and red-white-red blockades can be pushed through by Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler Renaturation Ordinance being built – the NGOs are concerned. In addition, there may be no more subsidies for electric cars and photovoltaic systems under Blauw-Zwart in the future.

The Czech Republic as a role model?
As climate protection applies the brakes, motorists will soon be able to drive full throttle on the road. As the “Krone” learned, blue and black could soon be the case Pace 150 on selected highway sections apply. As is known, the powerful FPÖ state deputy of Lower Austria, Udo Landbauer, called for these test routes in the “Krone” more than a year ago, with reference to the Czech Republic, where corresponding projects were already being implemented. Italy’s right-wing Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini is also known to have already pursued similar projects.

“The FPÖ generally proposes many measures that will stimulate car traffic. For example, a suspension or reduction of the tax on mineral oils, or a price ceiling for fuel. “At the same time, these measures also stimulate freight transport and contribute to the burden on residents’ health due to noise and dirt,” Egit concludes.

Gewessler: “Our children pay the bill”
Minister Leonore Gewessler also commented on the possible savings plans for the “Krone”. What emerges from the negotiations between the FPÖ and ÖVP speaks for itself: clear agreements in the field of climate protection. “The tax benefits for PV systems are decreasing, climate-friendly electric cars are becoming more expensive and even the climate ticket with which more than 300,000 people travel is no longer safe. Everything that protects the climate and thus safeguards our future must become more expensive. Everything that helps citizens protect the climate is being cut. Our children and grandchildren will pay the bill for this deforestation. If we do not combat global warming, there will be more environmental disasters and human suffering,” the Green Party explains.
