On Tuesday, the federal government announced that nurses should be included in the heavy work regulation. Now calls are loud that the regulation must also be extended to paramedics.
“The physical and psychological stress in the emergency services are often underestimated,” said Rotkreuz President Gerald Schöpfer. The Red Cross has already launched a petition with paramedics in the new regulation.
“Our 8,000 full -time paramedics do physical difficulties every day on every day, plus night shifts and, because of the event, irregular rest periods. Despite internal help, stressful missions are also psychological traces (…),” Schöpfer said.
Schumann: Every second person benefits
As reported, the new regulation must enter into force on January 1, 2026. This is intended to gain better access to nursing staff. If you have at least 45 years of insurance and have done at least ten tough work in the last 20 years, you can retire at the age of 60. Social Affairs Korinna Schumann (Spö) assumes that “every second person who subsequently retires will benefit from this admission to difficult work”.
