New developments concerning the murder of women in Oberwaltersdorf in the district of Baden (Lower Austria): After the terrible bloody deed at the end of August, there are now first research successes. After weeks of searching, several items were recovered, including the possible murder weapon.
After weeks of intensive searches on land and water, the detectives in the Oberwaltersdorf murder case now have a promising success: “Yes, the possible murder weapon has been found,” says Erich Habitzl of the public prosecutor’s office in Wiener Neustadt at the request of “Kron”.
The extensive water area around the castle lake has been searched by police divers since the end of August. Large-scale searches for the murder weapon also took place on land.
Autopsy confirms negligence of third parties
On August 24, a 57-year-old businesswoman was found dead in her parents’ home. She had multiple stab wounds to her head. Just a day after the crime, her husband was arrested under strong suspicion. He was previously listed as a witness after alerting the emergency services. There was no trace of the murder weapon.
Suspicious items
A number of objects have since been found that are believed to have been used in the murder. Some of the objects involved have been thrown away and are also covered in blood, which is currently being examined with close analyses. The officers found what they were looking for in a wooded area near the house – not far from the alleged crime scene.
As can be heard in the village, this would be the way to the market, where the suspect often went for purchases. There is still a strong suspicion against the 64-year-old husband. He is in custody, the next arrest will follow on Thursday.
The suspected widower has not yet been announced. “He is sticking to his previous responsibilities,” Habitzl said. The murder victim’s husband has said in interrogations so far that he found his wife and immediately set the rescue chain in motion. He has nothing to do with the bloody act. Because of the facts, the husband quickly became the focus of the researchers. Shortly after the crime, rumors circulated that an impending divorce could be a possible motive for the murder.
