The number of corona patients in hospitals should decrease earlier than originally predicted and feared. “A downward trend in normal and intensive care is expected for the next two weeks,” according to the estimate of the experts of the Corona forecasting consortium. So the climax has already been reached.
Last week the peak was not expected until the end of October. However, the forecast consortium now assumes that in two weeks, i.e. on November 2, 1,792 to 2,727 corona-infected people will have to be treated in normal wards and 71 to 163 in intensive care units.
On Tuesday, 120 patients had to be cared for in intensive care units and 2,406 in normal wards. Exactly one week ago there was a peak in the normal wards with 2463 patients. In two weeks, an average of 2210 occupied normal beds are provided.
Infections are declining
In addition, reported positive tests are currently declining in all states and age groups. Together with the trend reversal in the number of occupied beds and the decreasing virus load in the wastewater in most federal states, this indicates a temporary peak in the infection process, according to the experts.
The reason: the mild autumn weather, which the experts say dampened the season drivers. In addition, the high number of cases in recent weeks and months combined with a particularly high number of unreported cases (compared to the spring of 2022) has again significantly increased the immunization of the population.
