Kurds under suspicion – Suspected assassin arrested by Istanbul

Date:

After the deadly attack in Istanbul, the Turkish government blames militant Kurds from Syria for the Istanbul bombing. The order for the attack came from the northern Syrian city of Kobane, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said on Monday. The person who allegedly planted the bomb was said to be a woman – she was arrested.

In Kobane, Turkish forces have repeatedly taken action against the Syrian Kurdish militia YPG, which Ankara considers a terrorist organization and an offshoot of the outlawed Kurdish Workers’ Party PKK.

Woman allegedly dropped a package at the crime scene
The person who allegedly planted the bomb in Istanbul’s Istiklal shopping street also traveled through the northern Syrian region of Afrin, Soylu said. This person has been arrested. In addition, about 21 other suspects were arrested. Footage was shown on television of what appears to be a woman dropping a package at the crime scene.
