Heavy snow falls in parts of Austria just in time for the weekend. This is how Tyrol and the capital received a good load of fresh snow. Weather experts also expect further snowfall across Austria in the coming days.
In Vienna, freezing temperatures of minus 1 degree were measured in the morning. Another ten centimeters of fresh snow is expected by noon in Tyrol, Salzburg, Innsbruck and in the Waldviertel and Mühlviertel. It should also continue to snow lightly all Saturday in the east, leaving a thin layer of snow.
Danger of ice on the roads
The first photos and videos of reading reports from “Krone” show completely snow-covered streets and sidewalks. Traffic experts warn of black ice on the roads. Only in the south will the clouds loosen locally during the day due to the sometimes strong wind. A strong to strong northwesterly wind is expected on the eastern edge of the Alps.
Sunday will be milder
Fresh snow is also expected throughout Austria on Sunday. Especially in the western Northern Alps and in the Mühlviertel and Waldviertel, heavy snowstorms can sometimes occur. By evening, however, the snowfall had eased considerably. Only in the Danube area the wind is still moderate to strong locally.
