Beijing has made 12 proposals in an attempt to find a political solution to the conflict. Volodimir Zelensky described the mere fact that China is proposing a plan as “positive”, although he stated that it is too early to “analyze” it.

The government of China presented it this Friday peace plan for Ukraine composed by 12 proposals in an attempt to provide a political solution to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, calling on both sides for a ceasefire and defending the territorial integrity of all countries.
On the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine, China’s foreign ministry made proposals to end the armed conflict, including a request for the West to end sanctions against Russia or to begin peace talks.
According to China, it is important to respect the sovereignty of all countries within the framework of the principles of the United Nations Charter – as defended by Ukraine – and to effectively safeguard the sovereignty, strength or wealth of states.
“All parties must jointly defend the basic standards that govern international relations and ensure international equality and justice,” the proposal reads, which emphasizes the importance of not using “double standards”.
