Coup in Berlin in 2014: stolen diamonds turned up in a Viennese pawn shop

Date:

Diamond earrings stolen in a brutal lightning bolt from Berlin’s KaDeWe luxury department store in December 2014 have now resurfaced in the federal capital. The 43-year-old accused of receiving stolen goods, who left the 154,000 euro bling to a pawn dealer for 4,000 euros, gave an interesting explanation in the Vienna Regional Court about how he came into possession of the valuable piece of jewelry.

One of the most spectacular robberies in Germany now had consequences in the Viennese countryside. On December 20, 2014, five masked men stormed the luxury KaDeWe department store on Kurfürstendamm in Berlin. Armed with machetes and axes, they smashed display cases of fine jewelers Chopard and Rolex and used gas. The coup lasted 79 seconds, after which the perpetrators fled in the Audi with five pieces of jewelry and 15 watches worth 817,000 euros.
