Emergency route used – tourer fell 25 metres: seriously injured

A 30-year-old fell over extremely steep terrain during a ski trip in Neustift in Tyrol on Thursday. The woman had left the actual ski route and deviated from an emergency route. The athlete was seriously injured in the crash.

The 30-year-old went on a ski trip with a friend near the Neustift ski area. The destination was the Gamsgarten mountain station. The couple from Germany chose the “Wilde Grube” ski route for the ascent, but did not use the actual route, but an unprepared emergency route.

Crashed into a rock
It happened at an altitude of about 2,000 meters: the 30-year-old slipped and went off the path. As a result, she fell 80 feet over steep terrain and struck a rock. The victim ended up next to the ski route with serious injuries.

There, the seriously injured person received initial care from the pister rescue team and was then flown to Hall Hospital by emergency helicopter.
