Thousands of Austrians head to the Upper Adriatic on their motorcycles! And like every year, the Carinthian WILD HOGS will also be present at the motorcycle festival in Lignano.
Every year again! The international motorcycle festival will take place for the 38th time in Lignano Sabbiadoro from Thursday to Sunday. It is the largest motorcycle event in Italy, for many one of the most spectacular in Europe – and one of the most important in the world with more than 325 exhibitors and 120,000 visitors.
Motorcyclists and two-wheelers from all over Italy and Europe traditionally gather in the popular seaside resort a week before Pentecost to immerse themselves in the world of motorsport, tuning, rock sound and body art for four days – and of course party. The annual highlight: the seemingly endless parade of two-wheelers and American cars through Lignano and along the beach promenade. An event that Villach motorcyclist Mario and his friends will certainly not miss this year.
“In 2015 we went to the meeting in Lignano for the first time – and we were enthusiastic from the start. The passionate motorcyclist and classic car enthusiast talks at the “Krone” about the event, the people and of course the great atmosphere in Lignano.
To Lignano with 20 machines
Initially just five people, the WILD HOGS from Carinthia now sail to the Upper Adriatic Sea with a lot of manpower and horsepower. “Over the years, more and more people have joined us. And so on Friday we drive down with about twenty machines and a support vehicle for our bags,” says Mario.
A group of friends
However, it is important to note that they are not a registered motorcycle club. “We’re just a group of friends who like to ride motorcycles together – without being tied to a club, without restrictions and strict hierarchies. Anyone can join us.” And the Carinthians will certainly not be the only Austrians. Every year, thousands of red-white-red motorcyclists take to the sea.
