The long fight was worth it: the spa town of Bad Aussee in Upper Styria gets its beloved license plate back. Infrastructure Minister Leonore Gewessler gives the green light.
The people of Ausseer are known for their perseverance and consistency. Some say: Anyone who takes on the eloquent people of Upper Styria will lose. Franz Voves, former governor of the SPÖ state, can tell you a thing or two about it. Because his government decided to end the establishment in Bad Aussee and the popular BA license plate was a thing of the past, the Ausseer Drumwomen quickly withdrew their membership. There is no worse punishment in the Salzkammergut.
Return now sealed
For a long time, the picturesque health resort was longing for BA – until last year, when pressure was mounted on the responsible Minister of Infrastructure, Leonore Gewessler. As reported, the return of the BA table was initiated by a municipal council resolution, which has now been sealed!
Gewessler confirms to the “Krone” that “the documents we requested from the state of Styria are complete” and “the corresponding draft regulation has already been sent to the coalition partner”. Its approval is certain, as ÖVP Governor Christopher Drexler had insisted on a quick implementation: “I am glad that we have now pushed this through,” he tells the “Krone”.
The good news spread quickly throughout Ausseerland on Tuesday: “We are incredibly happy and pleased to get our license plate back,” Mayor Franz Frosch cheered. “Our heart’s desire has come true and this is also an important step in terms of tourism. Everyone who travels with the BA-Taferl is advertising our home country.” Frosch himself drives with his own license plate: “BA SKG 1 – that stands for Salzkammergut.”
