Back to tradition – Pope Leo XIV dedicated eleven priests in St. Peter’s Basilica

Date:

Pope Leo XIV celebrated a mass of eleven new priests from the diocese of Rome in Basilica by St. Peter on Saturday. The tradition of consecration was resumed by the pope.

Cardinal Angelo de Donatis had been celebrated for the past three years. The new priests are used in the diocese of Rome, the bishop of which is the pope.

“Restore the credibility of an injured church”
In his sermon the pope asked the priests for “transparency” in their lives. “Together we will restore the credibility of an wounded church that has been sent to an injured humanity in an injured creation. We are not yet perfect, but it is necessary to be credible,” Paus Leo emphasized.

The Holy Father called the new priests to make room for the believers and for every creature, because “the people of God is more numerous than we see”. “We should not define the limits,” said the Pontifex.
