“Dark Galaxy” discovers in the Perseus Heap

Date:

In the Perseus Galaxia Heap, an international research team, with the participation of Francine Marleau from the University of Innsbruck, identified an almost invisible Melkweg. The “Dark Galaxy” was discovered by statistical analyzes.

The Galaxy, referred to as candidate Dark Galaxy-2 (short: CDG-2), was not discovered by its weak star light, but by analyzing an unusual collection of global clusters-tight, old star accumulation that typically circling of galaxies.

The following studies in data from the “Hubble” spacecraft and the “Euclid” mission ultimately confirmed an extremely weak glow that proves the existence of this hidden galaxy.

“CDG-2 is the first galaxy that was exclusively identified by the Bay Star posts, and is one of the well-known galaxies that are surrounded by such bunches,” Francine Marleau is quoted in a broadcast by the Insto Inn-Innsbruck Institute at the University of Innsbruck. For the first time she discovered the previously unknown Galaxy in recordings of the “Euclid” Space Telescope (image below).

99.99% is made of dark matter
According to scientific estimates, there are up to 99.99 percent of the mass of galaxies of dark matter, which is around 85 percent of the universe. Moreover, at least 17 percent of the visible light of the galaxy of its spherical stars – a share that has never been observed at this level.

“This discovery clearly provides proof that galaxies can be created in pure dark-matter-Helos, in which visible stars only occur in dense, old star clusters,” says Dayi Li, of the University of Toronto and first author of the study. “Our work opens a new window for understanding the Galaxis development and dark matter.”
