The London Metropolitan Police have indicated that the investigation has found evidence that the restrictions imposed by the pandemic have been violated at parties and gatherings held on at least eight different dates.
United Kingdom police said on Thursday that they had suspended investigations into parties in Downing Street and other government buildings during the coronavirus pandemic after fining a total of 126 people since last January.
London’s Metropolitan Police have indicated that the investigation has found indications that restrictions imposed by the pandemic have been violated at parties and gatherings held on at least eight different dates, as reported by the BBC network. Of all the people who have been fined, 28 have received between two and five fines.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who has been at the center of the scandal, has paid a fine, although the president himself has ruled out the police taking more similar measures against him, according to information from the television network Sky News.
Now government official Sue Gray can publish her report on these parties, something that could happen in the coming weeks. Excerpts from the report published in January indicated that the government was guilty of “leadership and judgment errors”, while stressing that the executive’s conduct in relation to the meetings is “difficult to justify”.
